Das Fahrzeug ist nach siebenj\u00e4hriger Restaurierung wieder fahrbereit und wird an diesem Wochenende im Feld der Vorkriegsrennwagen bei der Vintage Sports Car Trophy mitfahren. \u201eDem Auto seht seine Geschichte wirklich ins Gesicht geschrieben\u201c, l\u00e4chelt er, wenn er die zeitgen\u00f6ssischen Reparaturen zeigt. Gleich an mehreren Stellen behob man in den fr\u00fchen 50ern Sch\u00e4den aus den Renneins\u00e4tzen im Werk, indem Bleche in die kunstvoll handgefertigte Aluminium-Karosserie eingepasst wurden. \u201eDas Fahrzeug stand seit den fr\u00fchen 70ern bei Privatleuten in der Garage, wir haben es nach langj\u00e4hriger Detektivarbeit gefunden und restauriert.\u201c Eingesetzt wurde der 1949 gebaute Renner zum Beispiel 1950 in Le Mans, wo er nach 120 Runden im Kampf um den Klassensieg ausfiel. \u201eDas Werksteam setzte ihn noch bis 1956 ein, danach ging das Fahrzeug an ein Privatfahrer und fuhr noch bis 1963 bei insgesamt 80 dokumentierten Renneins\u00e4tzen.\u201c Auch nach der Wiederbelebung ist der 60 PS starke Skoda-Sportwagen wieder im Renneinsatz \u2013 besonders stolz ist der Skoda-Experte dabei auf die Teilnahme bei der Le Mans Classic 2022. Denn hier vollendete Velebny gemeinsam mit Fahrerkollege Stanislav Kafka, was 1950 nicht gelang: Er brachte den 1.200-ccm-Rennwagen \u00fcber die komplette 24-Stunden-Distanz! Ebenso einzigartig ist ein Schaust\u00fcck, das bei Skoda im Fahrerlager zu bewundern ist: Das bildsch\u00f6ne Skoda 1.100 OHC Coup\u00e9 von 1959\/60 wurde nur zwei Mal gebaut und wurde im Werk nach historischen Dokumentationen aufw\u00e4ndig rekonstruiert. \u201eDer braucht den Vergleich mit den sch\u00f6nsten Sportwagen seiner Zeit nicht zu scheuen\u201c, findet Velebny \u2013 und nicht umsonst z\u00e4hlt das Fahrzeug heute zu den H\u00f6hepunkten in der Ausstellung des Werksmuseums im tschechischen Mlad\u00e1 Boleslav.
