Genau das geschah mit dem Schnitzer-Team, dessen Ende im Jahr 2020 beschlossene Sache zu sein schien. Eine Familie engagierter Historic-Experten fand sich, das historische Erbe des bayerischen Rennstalls zu pflegen. Stefen Trautwein und sein Sohn Yannik konnten gro\u00dfe Best\u00e4nde an Material und Fahrzeugen \u00fcbernehmen und gr\u00fcndeten zum Jahreswechsel 2021\/22 das Team Schnitzer Classic, das zum AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix sechs BMW mitgebracht hat, darunter vier Schnitzer-Fahrzeuge sowie zwei Kunden-Fahrzeuge im Feld des DRM-Revival. \u201eEs war uns ein gro\u00dfes Anliegen, den Namen Schnitzer weiterzuf\u00fchren. Der Name sollte bestehen bleiben, und wir freuen uns sehr, uns mit der Familie Schnitzer darauf geeinigt haben. Wir bekommen ganz viel Feedback von Fans, aber auch von ehemaligen Fahrern, dass diese Entscheidung toll ankommt\u201c, schildert Yannik Trautwein. \u201eDie Fahrzeuge, die wir im Rennen einsetzen, sind allerdings noch nicht aus dem ehemaligen Schnitzer-Bestand. Die \u00fcbernommenen Autos sind zwar optisch in einem sehr guten Zustand und die verbaute Technik ist ebenfalls gut. Aber zum einen standen die Autos eine Zeit, und manche sind eben nicht komplett. Wir k\u00f6nnen sie mit den Vorhandenen Teilen zwar wieder komplettieren \u2013 und wollen das auch. Aber das wird ein wenig dauern.
