Olaf Manthey ist am N\u00fcrburgring wohl jedem bekannt. Der ehemalige Rennfahrer in DTM und Porsche Carrera Cup wechselte in den 90ern auf die andere Seite der Boxenmauer und wurde als Teamchef geradezu legend\u00e4r. Nach wie vor geh\u00f6ren die Manthey-Porsche zum festen Bild in der Langstrecken-Szene nicht nur am N\u00fcrburgring, und das \u201eGrello\u201c genannte Flaggschiff ist st\u00e4ndiger Siegkandidat in NLS und bei den 24h. Beim Oldtimer-Grand-Prix klettert Manthey in den Urvater der Manthey-Porsche \u2013 ein Fahrzeug, das Erinnerungen weckt…<\/em><\/p>\n

Wenn Olaf Manthey auf den Porsche RSR von 1997 angesprochen wird, leuchten seine Augen. \u201eIch verbinde mit diesem Auto sehr viele Emotionen. Wir hatten hier auf der N\u00fcrburgring-Nordschleife viele Erfolge mit ihm \u2013 Klassen und Gesamtsiege. Und wir haben viele Erkenntnisse gewonnen, die wir in sp\u00e4tere Autos einflie\u00dfen liessen.\u201c Seinerzeit nahm sich Manthey den Porsche gr\u00fcndlich vor, ver\u00e4nderte Bodywork und K\u00fchler vorne, modifizierte die K\u00fchlluft-Sch\u00e4chte, baute Unterboden und Heckdiffusor um \u2013 und brachte den Motor auf 3,8 Liter. Es war der Beginn einer bis heute andauernden Teamhistorie.<\/p>\n

Nach seiner aktiven Zeit wurde der Porsche zun\u00e4chst noch sporadisch als Ersatz- Einsatzfahrzeug genutzt und dann stillgelegt. Doch Manthey, der die Leitung seines Teams inzwischen in j\u00fcngere H\u00e4nde gelegt hat, wollte dieses besondere Auto nicht in Vergessenheit geraden lassen. \u201eHeute ist der RSR gewisserma\u00dfen ein Hobby\u201c, grinst er. Nat\u00fcrlich war dazu einiges an Arbeit n\u00f6tig, wie der Rennprofi berichtet. \u201eNach der langen Standzeit war nat\u00fcrlich eine kleine Inspektion f\u00e4llig, um ihn wieder flott zu machen. Vor allem wurden Betriebsstoffe ausgetauscht oder auch die Bremsmanschetten erneuert.\u201c<\/p>\n

Fast noch wichtiger als die Fahrzeughistorie ist das, was mit dem Manthey-RSR verbunden ist, der den Grundstein f\u00fcr einen Welterfolg als Rennteam legte. \u201eIch verbinde mit diesem Weg viel Stolz\u201c, sagt Manthey, der nach zwei Jahren als Teamchef einen ersten Ritterschlag erfuhr: \u201eWir hatten mit dem Porsche-Werk 1999 die erste Zusammenarbeit beim einsatz des neuen, wassergek\u00fchlten 996 GT3 R \u2013 in Le Mans haben wir damals auf Anhieb den GT-Klassensieg geholt. Es ging dann mit dem 997 RSR bei den 24h von Spa weiter. 2013 ging es in die WEC-GT-Klasse mit Porsche, wo wir unter anderem den WM-Titel und mehrere Klassenerfolge in Le Mans geholt haben.\u201c Ein kleiner Ausschnitt aus einer Karriere voller Siege und Erfolge. Seit 2013 ist Porsche Mehrheitseigner von Manthey Racing \u2013 die Kr\u00f6nung einer Karriere, die mit den ersten Eins\u00e4tzen als Fahrer 1974 begann. Das sieht auch Manthey so: \u201eDass sich ein Werk wie Porsche an so einer kleinen Firma wie meiner beteiligt, Darauf bin ich stolz.\u201c<\/p>\n
